Weteran (The Veteran)

This dwarf appeared in our city during the celebrations for Veteran’s Day. Climbing up to the podium, this tiny Veteran long and bitterly recalled the old fortifications that were destroyed by Napoleon’s troops – on those walls he received his baptism by fire. He then spoke of a fierce battle during the Fortress Breslau siege (in WWII) – the shelling was heavy but Veteran’s fighting spirit couldn’t be broken. Holding vigil at St. Elizabeth’s Cathedral in full battle gear, the devoted dwarf commemorates soldiers’ struggles and sacrifice – he stands as a permanent reminder to the bravery of the city’s many heroes.
