Gazuś

Working on Cathedral Island, this illuminating dwarf can frequently be seen on the Bridge of Lovers. Climbing up the gas lamp pole (hence the nickname Gazuś or lamplighter), he ignites the flame of the lamp. Though Latarnik’s father was a baker by trade, he dabbled in lamplighting, and before that his ingenious grandfather lit up the historical part of the city with olive oil lamps. Latarnik’s latest task is to count the padlocks hung on the bridge by couples in love. By the evidence so far, love has already touched several thousand, and it’s not even Winter!
